Sturgeon River, Canada
Mommy & Me Horse Retreat
July 18th-19th, 2026
A 2-day, 1 night Camping, Yoga & Horseback Adventure
motherhood, magic & nature
Step away from the everyday rush and step into a space made for you and your child to connect deeply with each other, with nature, and with the gentle wisdom of horses. Surrounded by the serene beauty of boreal forests and sparkling lake, you’ll have the perfect setting to pause, play, and create lasting memories together.
This retreat is about bonding, discovery, and presence. Experience the joy of exploring the land on horseback, quiet moments of reflection by the lake, and gentle guided activities, including yoga and meditation tailored for mom’s and children. Here, healing comes naturally: through the rhythm of the forest, the connection with horses, and the shared moments that strengthen your heart-to-heart bond.
When was the last time you truly slowed down, without schedules, responsibilities, or distractions, and simply played, laughed, and connected with your child?
Join us in the breathtaking wilderness of northern Canada for a one-of-a-kind Mommy & Me Horse Healing Retreat, where nature holds you, horses ground you, and everything is lovingly taken care of, so you can fully be present with your little one.
This retreat is designed for ease, joy, and connection. No planning, no cooking, no setting up tents, and no cleanup. You arrive, exhale, and receive. From nourishing organic meals to pre-set lakeside tents, every detail is handled so you can focus on what truly matters: quality time with your child and moments just for you.
Together, you and your child will spend your days connecting and swimming with horses, learning gentle horseback riding, playing in nature, swimming in the lake, creating art, exploring sound and rhythm, and gathering around campfires under star-filled skies. While the kids play, explore, and connect with animals and nature, moms have space to relax, connect with other mothers, and drop back into themselves—without guilt.
Through playful, age-appropriate activities, your child will naturally learn how to:
Understand their nervous system
Feel safe in their body
Recognize and name their emotions
Express feelings in healthy ways
Learn simple tools to calm themselves when big emotions arise
All while having fun, moving their bodies, and building a loving, secure bond with you.
This retreat is the perfect blend of adventure, healing, play, and deep connection—for both mom and child. You’ll leave feeling more connected, more regulated, more present, and deeply nourished… with memories you’ll carry forever.

Why I Created This Retreat
I created the Mommy & Me Horse Healing Retreat because so many of us were never taught at a young age, how to truly care for ourselves mind, body, and soul.
We weren’t shown how to understand our nervous systems.
We weren’t taught how to feel emotions safely or express them in healthy ways.
We weren’t guided on how to self-soothe, regulate, or feel safe within ourselves.
And for many of us, that lack of education followed us into adulthood.
This is the guidance I wish I had been given as a child.
Because I know, without a doubt, that learning these tools early would have changed my life drastically, for the better.
This retreat is about offering children something different.
A foundation of emotional awareness, nervous system regulation, self-connection, and safety, taught gently, playfully, and through nature and animals.
And it’s also about supporting mothers.
Giving you space to rest, to connect, to heal, and to simply be, while knowing your child is learning tools that will support them for a lifetime.
This isn’t just a weekend away.
It’s an experience that plants seeds of self-awareness, confidence, emotional health, and deep connection, that will continue to grow long after you return home.
Testimonials from Previous Retreat Participants
During my healing journey, I learned that you need 2 very important things in your healing journey:
one…
How transformative shared presence can be. Real healing and growth happen in moments of authentic connection, when you laugh together, explore together, and simply exist together without expectation. Being fully present with your child, creates bonds, trust and memories that last a lifetime.
two…
How imperative your environment truly is in your healing journey. This way you can be free of other influences, distractions, and responsibilities so you can be FULLY invested in yourself. When was the last time you did that for yourself?
I went all out, so you and your child could go all in. After your Mommy & Me Horse Retreat experience, you’ll leave feeling more connected, joyful, and grounded. With shared memories that stay with you long after the last ride. There’s nothing more renewing than stepping away from the everyday and experiencing nature, horses, and heart-to-heart connection together.

If you're traveling from out of town or abroad to join us for the retreat, you have two convenient options for arrival. You can fly into Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (YXE), or Prince Albert (YPA). Please note, Tymeka will be traveling from Saskatoon.
The journey from Saskatoon to Sturgeon River takes approximately 2.5-3 hours by car, while it's a 90-minute drive from Prince Albert Airport. To ensure timely arrival at the ranch, we recommend scheduling your flight to arrive no later than August 7th, as we need to gather at the ranch by 9:30 am CST.
For those flying into Saskatoon, Tymeka will do her best to coordinate carpooling arrangements for a fee of $40 CAD round trip. Additionally, we encourage participants with vehicles to consider offering rides to fellow attendees. Further details, including the designated meetup location, will be communicated closer to the event date.
-
No prior experience with horses or riding is required. Our team of professional guides will assist with every aspect, from setting up saddles to providing a pre-trip demonstration. They'll accompany us throughout the journey, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and supported. Additionally, a horse-drawn wagon will be available for anyone needing a break at any time.
-
There is no strict age limit for this retreat. While the experience is ideally suited for children ages 4–16, the retreat is intentionally designed to be flexible and adaptive.
Once we see who is signed up, activities will be lovingly tailored to the ages, energy levels, and needs of the children attending, ensuring that each child feels included, safe, and supported. Younger children experience the retreat more through play, movement, and imagination, while older children are invited into deeper emotional awareness and self-regulation practices, all in an age-appropriate way.
-
The typical temperature in northern Prince Albert in August ranges from a daytime high of 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit) to a nighttime low of 15 degrees Celsius (59 degrees Fahrenheit). Based on personal experience camping in the area around the same time last year, mornings tend to be cool enough to require a hoodie and pants, while afternoons may warm up enough for shorts and a tank top. As evening sets in, temperatures drop again, often necessitating a sweat suit or additional layers for comfort.
-
That is completely welcome and deeply respected here.
Nothing on the itinerary is mandatory. This retreat is about listening to the body, honoring nervous systems, and modeling healthy self-care for our children. If your child needs a nap, quiet time, space to rest, or simply wants to skip an activity, they are encouraged to do so, without pressure or expectation.
This is part of the learning. Children are gently shown that it’s okay to slow down, rest, and honor their needs. You are always free to follow your child’s rhythm and do what feels best for both of you.

There is limited Wi-Fi available at the ranch, primarily accessible during our departure and return times. While there is some cellphone reception in the area, its quality and coverage may vary. However, given the nature of our retreat—focused on disconnecting and immersing ourselves in nature—rest assured that we'll be too engrossed in our adventures and bonding experiences to worry about our phones. Our main guide is familiar with emergency reception spots should the need arise.

When you register for the retreat, your welcome email will include a comprehensive packing list detailing everything you should bring, including recommended outfits. Tents will already be set up for us and chairs will also be provided. You just need to bring a sleeping bag, blanket sleeping pads or air mattresses, and pillows.
If you don't have a sleeping bag, or air mattress, there's no need to worry. Tymeka has a surplus of these items, and we anticipate that other attendees may also have extras. We'll coordinate tent buddies and equipment distribution, so please inform Tymeka of your needs when you sign up.
In the event that you require camping gear, Sturgeon River Ranch offers rentals for a nominal fee of approximately $30. Additionally, if you prefer, Tymeka suggests the option of sleeping in a hammock as an alternative to a tent and sleeping bag.
